Quiero que que te vayas a mérida con Nico a empaparte del nuevo desarrollo.
According to my dictionary empapar means to soak, get soaking wet but I doesn't make any sense in this sentence.

And a good metaphor too; we talk about someone soaking up knowledge (like a sponge). That's what happens here in the Forum every day and is why I enjoy coming here so much.
