Siento mucho que ustedes en el cono sur vayan a empezar el solsticio de invierno con la garúa, la aguanieve, la eczema, y las capas de hielo en la carretera de que han hablado.

Como ya saben, es lo contrario aquí en el hemisferio norte. Estamos por empezar con días calurosos e incluso días con calor achicharrante hasta 44-48 grados centígrados donde yo vivo. Sin embargo, prefiero el calor al frío. Puedo lidiar con el calor mejor que con el frío, y ademas, no me gusta abrigarme con tanta ropa. Prefiero pantalones cortos, un sombrero, filtro solar, y gafas del sol. ¡Que vengan los días calurosos!

(No importa lo pequeños que sean, por favor háganme el favor de corregir siempre mis errores en español.)

"películas de hielo" is better than "capas" (like films better than layers; what's used in English?)

Here in the suburban areas they're lots of car crashes in corners early in the morning because they slide over the frozen gutters and frosted, then wet by melting, then frozen again, pavement.

Thank you for all that info. Here freezing rain is a rare unwelcome event -zero to three times per winter- and it melts immediately it touches the ground or the skin -after trying to pierce it like a needle-.

In this globally warmed times, we have here now very variable autumn/winter seasons. It's increasingly rare to see trees in gold and bits of orange -this year they look much like straw or burned straw- and we had the cold resistant Patagonian mosquito (aedes albifasciatus) buzzing around until a couple of weeks ago.
