El comer y el rascar hasta empezar

This is something like eating and scratching, just about starting. At some point in the past I heard someone saying something about eating that carried the same meaning as in Spanish . Does anybody Know a close saying in English?

I think maybe rascar means 'scrape' not 'scratch' in this case?

All I can think of is 'scrape the (bottom of) barrel' but it has nothing to do with food or ' once you start eating you can't stop' (which I think might be what you mean here?).

On another site I found it translated as 'Once you pop, you can' t stop' but I don' t know if this is used frequently and/ or of this is a good translation for it.

Ok thanks, I found Appetite comes with eating, which I think is the closest possible.
Going to bed. Cheers!
