From Star Wars

"It's obvious that this contest cannot be decided by our knowledge of the Force, but by our skills with the light saber."

"Es obvio que esta pelea no se decide (resolve) por saber de la Fuerca sino por la abilidad con la espada."

Correct? Could be better?

Here's an "official" translation (from a site that offers quotes from the movies for those wanting to learn the English equivalents):

«Es evidente que esta contienda no la decidirá nuestro conocimiento de la fuerza. La espada láser será quién dé la respuesta.»

You have some good ideas, and shouldn't feel obligated to use someone else's translation. However, I would recommend that you check the spellings of 'the force' and 'skill', and I would definitely include the full translation of 'light saber'.

lightsaber = sable de luz (not "espada láser")

"nuestra destreza con el sable de luz será lo que dé/proporcione la respuesta"

(in the other translation, unless that lightsaber hosts a personified spirit, we can't use "quien")

"Official" translations change from one place to another. In Mexico it used to be "espada láser", although lately some people say "sable láser".

I found more translations than the one I posted.
I thought it would be fun to see what comments this particular rendition would get (and maybe we'll get others). There is more than one way to translate something.

I liked other translations better, but none I found used sable láser.

It's not very common, but I've heard teenagers using it.
The usual translation in Mexico is "espada láser".

Well, it certainly is what comes from written translations, like subtitles. With dubbing, it is selected what matches the times and favours lipsynch.
