Another mistake?
My book says that "marry" is not followed by a preposition, but "get marry" is (to).
However, in a sentence I've read: "if I was married to Johnathan", while I think that the correct sentence would be: "if I was married Johnathan". I guess this is a mistake (mistakes puzzle me ![]() Thanks. ![]() |

Silly mistakes!
![]() ![]() My book talks about "to marry" (he married my cousin) and about "to get married to": It doesn't say anything about "to be married to", that's why I thought "to be married" wasn't followed by "to". Thanks. ![]() PD: it was a reported question: he asked me if I was married to J. So I guess "was" is correct here. ![]() Last edited by irmamar; May 23, 2010 at 01:36 AM. |

PS "To marry" is slightly ambiguous, although usually the context resolves it. "He married my cousin" could mean "He got married to my cousin" or "He officiated at my cousin's wedding".
