No, Tacuba is talking about "tomar":

Me pidió que tomara su clase = Me pidió tomar su clase (not my first choice, but not incorrect.)
"Me pidió tomar su clase"

Yes, but I am definitely very aware that I need to begin to get comfortable with the use of the subjunctive. I am hoping to wait for my courses in Argentina so that I can learn the subjunctive in a formal, and hopefully complete, way. I think that the easiest subjunctive use for me to remember will be when a complex sentence has a change of subject. I'll keep that in mind, but don't be surprised to see me avoiding it for the time being.
