Hey thanks (and to sosia) - I have found -
nada más llegar subió a verla as soon as he arrived, he went up to see her. I think this expression nada más + inf. is far from obvious. |

Oh... "atufar"... siempre he usado "tufo", pero no conocía el verbo. Hoy aprendí una palabra nueva.

"Good grief" can be said in many ways. Some examples:
¡Por Dios! ¡Cielo santo! ¡Madre mía! ¡Cielos! ¡Válgame (Dios)! ... @Perikles: many words can be unknown in many regions or they're too archaic or too literary for the common people to know them. But that's when dictionaries are a blessing. @Hernán: genial, me consuela, más genial.

Any of the interjections used to convey surprise, awe or whatever would be fine, but a direct translation of it, such as "My God", there isn't, as far as I know...
