"Spanglish"

I'm doing a project for my Spanish Dialectology class and need to find eight Spanish-speakers who reside in the US to answer the following questions:

¿Qué es el Spanglish?
¿Usa usted Spanglish?
¿Qué opinión tiene sobre el Spanglish?


The responses can be in either Spanish or English, as short as one sentence (or as long as they'd like to answer!). Usernameswill not be used in any way--the information will just be used for this term paper.

There's already been several discussions about this subject here in the forums. I'm sure some of the responses from the native speakers that live here can be used, so long as you can find them written in English. You can use the Search menu tool to find the threads, or posts, that contain the word 'Spanglish'.

You only need to post a question once. We members look at all of the forums.

1) Para mí el Spanglish son dos cosas, el de USA, cuando una palabra inglesa se castellaniza En este caso un verbo To mop = mapear por ejemplo.

En mi país Chile, cuando se usa una palabra en inglés para denominar algo en castellano. Por ejemplo lo que siempre ha sido un bar ahora se llama pub y todos van al pub. Hasta algunas veces se pronuncia como se pronuncia en castellano, por ejemplo "bungee jump" le dice el "benyi"

2) Yo no uso Spanglish en EE.UU., y si lo hago es en broma o para decir un chiste.

3) Creo que es una estupidez y se establece mayormente por ignorancia de una de las dos lenguas, en el caso de que pase en EE.UU. y en elcaso de estar en Chile, a eso yo le llamo arribismo o esnobismo (snob, o se arribista)

a) Lo que se denomina en lingüística un code-switching, un código cambiante, que alterna entre el español y el inglés.

b) Antes morir que pecar, dicen en mi país.

c) Que es una deformidad de los dos idiomas basada en el desconocimiento de ambos y una vergüenza para los hablantes cultos de cualquiera de esos idiomas.

Estoy totalmente de acuerdo con Irma.

Cualquier país, cuya frontera limita con un país de otra lengua, tendrá ese problema en las zona limítrofe. Y si hay un inmigración importante entre los dos países, ambas lenguas se verán de alguna manera comprometida.

Europa es tan vieja que no creo que exista ya ese problema con los países colindantes que hablen distinta lengua.
