This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for May 25, 2009

maceta (feminine noun (la)) — pot, flowerpot, pot of flowers, small mallet, small hammer. Look up maceta in the dictionary

Tengo una maceta con flores afuera de la puerta de mi casa.
I have a pot of flowers outside the door of my house.

Correcciones.

En todo al decir esto parece que las macetas son las que refrescan el aire y no las plantas.

¿Hay una mejor manera de escribir esto?

Sigue siendo ambiguo

Las plantas que tengo en las macetas de mi casa renuevan el aire.

Un sinónimo de maceta es "tiesto"

Tengo unos tiestos/unas macetas en el balcón cargaditos/-as de flores

Note: maceta meaning a small hammer or mallet is a diminutive form of mazo meaning mallet. Gavel = mazo de juez.

Extra, y muy bueno. Aunque tiesto en chile puede ser cualquier tiesto, en cambio una maceta es una maceta.
