Fósforo

This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for September 21, 2009

fósforo (masculine noun (el)) — match. Look up fósforo in the dictionary

Tráete los fósforos para que prendamos la fogata.
Bring the matches and we'll light the fire.

Susuna. Please you bring me the matches soon.

Also you can say Cerillos instead of Fosforos, at least here in Mexico is known it as Cerillos, at most not is used the word Fosforos for this place.

In Spain we say "cerillas" . Pueden ser normales (rascando con cualquier superficie se encienden) y de seguridad (necesitan un tipo de papel de lija especial). El fósforo suele ser la cabeza de la cerilla, ya que está compuesta de este material.

¿Alguien en la vida cotidiana dice "fósforos"?

Es una palabra que yo sólo oigo en la televisión.

La persona que hizo el diseño para los que tengo para emergencias. Creo que los haya comprado en Mercadona, pero no estoy seguro.

I know this is offtopic, but when I got the email it looked strange.

It looked like this:

fósforo

masculine noun (el), match

Tráete los fósforos para que prendamos la fogata.
Bring the matches and we'll light the fire.

anyone else have it like that? It's no big deal but I don't know why it's like this
