Necesito que por favor me ayuden con la siguiente frase. El problema es, la traducción “oldest” en este contexto. ¿Cuál seria la mejor palabra viejo o antiguo? Por favor corrijan cualquier otro error.

"Viejo" has usually a pejorative meaning. It's better to avoid it.

"Venerado" doesn't give any idea on how long the program has been working, but rather how much people appreciates appreciate it.

Oh, then vererado doesn't quite mean venerable which in English means old and respected/reliable.

Correct. "Venerar" means to show respect to a sacred thing or consider it something to be praised for its virtues or sanctity.

And thanks for the correction.
I must be more attentive. Writing singular verbs with "people" is a vice I cannot get rid of.

I agree with the above. But I understand the use of "venerado" as there are certain connotation or an implied meaning or nuance that could make it somewhat acceptable in this context.

If you want a more "free translation" you could use "de más larga tradición" which would include the idea of "old" but without the bad connotations of "viejo" or even "antiguo"... (antiguo, could also have a tinge of "anticuado" as in "old-fashioned").

Even using "venerado por largo tiempo" could deliver the same or close enough concept.

"La Semana del Listón Rojo es el programa de más larga tradición y de mayor alcance para evitar la drogadicción en la nación, que llega a millones de americanos durante la última semana de octubre de cada año."

(My choosing of "americanos" is on purpose, as I'd like to cover all America, not just the USA... i.e., if this is a program against drugs, let's get it all over America and the world!)

I agree with "mayor alcance". It sounds much better.

I can agree with "de más larga tradición", although "antiguo" seems to me already clear enough.

I disagree with "americanos", as it's a USA program, and other countries have their own programs with their own names.

Ok, I get the point on this being a USA program, and I am well aware of the note in the Panhispánico, (quote)
