Tío

I know tío means uncle throughout the Spanish-speaking world. In Spain it commonly means guy. In Peru it means old man. Is there a tía equivalent?
In a thread somewhere somebody used peli. Is that the word?

I've also heard it used like Old, in epithets like Old Stickyfingers, or Old Pennypincher over there.

Exactly. In fact I think I've heard Tío Ladrón specifically. Some story I read in a dual-language book that explained the usage for me.

I think I've heard that in Spain and maybe other areas, you can use tía in a similar fashion to mean gal, although it's not used much like that in Mexico. IIRC, I heard a Venezuelan use it as well.

-Hola tíos.
-¿Qué pasa?
-Vaya una reunión. ¿Dónde están las tías?
-A mí no me mires, pregúntale a éste.
-Bueno, vale. (Da igual uno que otro): ¿Dónde están las tías, tío?
-No te lo vas a creer, tío. Ha venido un tío y se ha llevado a todas las tías.
-No jodas.

And you wouldn't believe how hard that was to write after writing German and French for the past 2 hours.

Si, eso tiene el sabor salado madrileño. ¿Entonces, estaba soñando yo cuando vi la palabra peli? ¿Esa palabra no existe?

Olvidé lo de peli. Yo sólo la uso como diminutivo de película. Nada que ver con tío ni con tía. Supongo que te refieres a eso.
