@Pablo: Bueno, es entre cuetes, cuotas... ¡entre ésos!
Por cierto, un día que tenga tiempo para deshebrar la canción completa, voy a preguntar bien a bien qué significan todas éstas:

@Pablo:
Miguel Bosè will contribute to Spanish collocations in songs, for those who have wondered how to say "to be about to..." and "to be this close to...": http://www.youtube.com/user/OficialM.../0/bLNy_Jgl24U (Sorry, embedding didn't work for this video)

Vale, (estoy con una computadora que le falta los "plugins" y esas cosas para ver videos... así que espero echarle un vistazo a esto mañana...)
Well, I originated this thread mainly for English speakers, but I guess so many collocations may be a bit overwhelming!

@Angelica:
I love the song you posted. I'm going to have to memorize it. (Todos menos tu). |

Memorizing it and singing it along will help you with pronunciation.

I hope so That was my plan for learning proper pronunciation (music). I don't come into contact with any native Spanish speakers in my daily life, so it's the only method I have.
On a side note, I tried to start writing this post in Spanish and realized that I can no longer use the alt codes for inputting proper diacritic marks since I switched my locale to Arabic (أنا تعلم اللغة العربية). I'll have to find a different method. |

Well, I think Ana Torroja has always very good Spanish (Spain) diction.
This song, while with less "collocations" than the one by J. Sabina, it has enough repetitive phrases so as to be able to memorize... (Not sure if that is your style, but from the viewpoint of "words" and "Spanish" it may be useful. (This was a total hit during the 80s in Spain) By the way, do you study Arabic too?

At this point I'm barely past learning the script (I still am very slow at reading it and I'm sure my pronunciation is terrible ), but yes I'm studying Arabic. I intend to learn all six official languages of the united nations at some point (Arabic, Chinese [I assume Mandarin], Spanish, French, Russian, and of course English). Possibly Latin and Esperanto too. We'll see. I have a long road ahead, in any case.

Good for you!
I did one year of Arabic, but that was 27 years ago... and only one year... very, very little remain... At any rate, Spanish must have about 2,000 to 3,000 basic words coming directly from Arabic, so it is a good language to learn...
