Question Very close to my heart

...a personal connection, one that is very close to my heart.

Nothing wrong with that. But, is there any other way you would make more "emotional", i.e., using "heart" as in the original?

(That may be fine, too, but it reads a bit over-long, and it sounds to me a bit 'elaborated'.)

Any idea on how to convey the same 'emotion' in a brief and natural manner in Spanish?

Funny that you should ask that. Yesterday I wrote an e-mail to a Peruvian friend to congratulate her on something that she achieved within an organization that is "near and dear to her heart" (that's what I wrote to her). These phrases certainly suggest a certain amount of warmth that can probably better be expressed in Spanish.

Yeah, you would think so, but somehow, even checking all the expressions I can find with "corazón" in Spanish, I do not quite get something that works in the same warm manner as it works in English...

Yes, that is a good idea...

These may be options I can use... Thanks for the inspiration!

(This reminded me this old song, "Algo se muere en el alma cuando un amigo se va...)

Glad that you like it!
(There are more of these sevillanas songs... many of these are very close to my heart.)
