To cap off the evening

I heard something similar in a film yesterday, but I couldn´t find it in the dic. can anybody help?

"to cap off the evening" means to make the evening complete in some way - perhaps by having a "nightcap" (a drink before going to bed).

Pero por defecto tiene sentido positivo; si negativo el tono de voz debería indicar ironía.
