¿Qué tal la comida?

Hola a todos. Un semestre nuevo acaba de empezar en mi escuela y en la clase de español hemos empezado estudiar la comida.

Me pregunto, ¿qué es su comida favorita y por qué?

Me gusta mucho marisos. No me gusta pescados. Pero me gusta camarón, calamar, conchas de peregrino, mejillones, ostras, almejas, y langosta. La langosta es mi favorito. ¿Por qué? No sé. Simplemente porque...

I love Chinese food, because we're Chinese, of course. there are lots of Chinese dishes I can name, but the best of them all I don't know the English name and only the Chinese name.

In Spanish, the phrase I wonder is rendered by asking your question using the future tense, as in ¿Vendrá ella? (I wonder if she's coming.) I converted your question to a direct question instead.

Thanks again, Rusty. I forgot that the definite article is used a lot more in Spanish than in English. Very helpful!

Gracias Rusty. So preguntarse should be used for something that is more internal, instead of "wondering" about someone elses feelings or motives? Like

I am asking myself if I am doing this correctly

and not

I am wondering if she is coming

or is preguntarse not used often at all?

Preguntarse is certainly used, and it means to wonder, but I don't believe it's used as often as the future tense form. Maybe a native speaker could chime in.

Yes. I had Mole at a local restaurant the other night actually. I like it very much. I must say that Mexican food is one of my favorites.
