Dora the Explorer and Handy Manny
I am hoping to teach my grandchild to speak Spanish. I wonder if any members have experience of these tv cartoons and if they have been any good in encouraging language learning in children.
Are there any other similar programmes, that can be seen in the UK, or bought on DVD Thanks Jim |

Hello.
In my personal experience, everyday I watch that movies, because, just I have two children and they are accustomed to watch that kind to cartoons in the television, I have watched sometimes in that cartoons are spoken in Spanish and English in some parts of the cartoon and it is very useful inclusive for the children, because in that form they are training themselves in the language. I recommending to leave to your children to watch these cartoons.

While I'm a Senior in high school, I have still managed to see both of those shows at one time or another and think they're pretty good at integrating Spanish vocabulary into the shows.
Though most of the shows are in English, there are various times throughout the show that the characters will use Spanish words in place of English ones, as well as use some Spanish expressions, rather than the English equivalents. |

I like all shows........Handy Manny, Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego Go. They all use good Spanish and will use the English equivalent if they pronounce something in Spanish.
Good shows for very basic grammar although they will use some technical terms that are interesting (based on the programs' format) such as, marine life, tools and building supplies, animals, etc. I like them!
