@Lou Ann: Excellent!

I wasn't given a choice... My parents put me to study English when I was a young child, and I've found I enjoy the never ending process.

@Angélica: I consider you blessed to have parents like that. The attitude in my home state was pretty apathetic around learning a second language while I was growing up. Sadly, to a large extent it still is.

Cloudy - you grew up in the States, right? Not many of us were encouraged to thoroughly learn a second language when we were younger, don't you agree?

@Cloud: That was (is) the attitude of many parents here... Learning English (as it's become some sort of lingua franca) is necessary for those who want to have a wider scope.

@LydiaElizabeth,

It depends on the person who's speaking.
You may take a look at youtube and you'll find a lot of people who are learning Spanish. (Search for "Mi acento español" and you'll get some examples)

The English accent sounds nice to me as long as I can follow the conversation. Anyways, I'm glad when English speakers make an effort to talk to me in Spanish, no matter if I understand or not.

For that matter, could someone answer the same question about a Yankee's accent when speaking Spanish?
