These are all prepositions and are, in many cases, used just like their Spanish equivalents, especially in prepositional phrases.
The only caution I give is that prepositions do not always translate one-for-one into the other language. Examples: I want to go to the store. Quiero ir a la tienda. What did you learn at school? ¿Qué aprendiste en la escuela? At work, I wash dishes. En el trabajo, frego los platos. This present is for you. Este regalo es para ti. Thanks for the gift. Gracias por el regalo. The bird in the tree is singing. El pájaro en el arbol canta. The clouds in the sky look like sheep in the field. Las nubes del cielo parecen ovejas en el campo. Pon este libro en la mesa. Put this book on the table. I'm from Venezuela. Soy de Venezuela. Where are you from? ¿De dónde eres? Ojo: Me alegro de que tú estés aquí. I'm glad you're here. Estoy seguro de que ... I'm sure ... Provide us some examples of your own. We'll let you know how well you're doing. |
