El gerundio como un adjetivo

Hola así el titulo dice bastante.

Puedo decir...
the falling rain
La lluvia cayenda
O se debe decir ,
La lluvia que cae

El hombre pasando
The passing man
El hombre que pasa

Me perece tener razón , pero nunca he visto así... por la otra mano tengo dudas porque el gerundio y el gerund inglés no son parecidos ...
