Ser Vs Estar - Take place

The concert was in ‘La Romareda’ stadium.
• El concierto fue en ‘La Romareda’.

Is my use of ‘fue’ correct here? Could ‘fue' be replaced by ‘tuvo lugar’?

Many thanks in advance.
