Por + infinitive
When por and an infinitive are together, does it translate to English meaning by or through something?

It's little words that are often traps for non-native speakers .
I think lo mejor está por venir means the best is yet to come.

@lollykh: There are many cases (all with different meanings and translations) where a combination of "por" + infinitive can be used. Do you have a precise example, so we can give you the answer you need?

Interesting how por + venir combines into the noun meaning "the future," porvenir

One thing that helped me get hold of it as meaning "because of," was a line from the excellent Juanes song La Camisa Negra that says

Por beber del veneno malévolo de tu amor
yo quedé moribundo y lleno de dolor
