Salir con la cabeza caliente y los pies fríos

Salir con la cabeza caliente y los pies fríos significa que a pesar del esfuerzo no se saca nada, por mucho que se intente en una negociación, o intentando seducir a alguien etc...
ALguien sabe el equivalente en inglés?

Well I don't think this is quite the equivalent as it doesn't express the effort as much as the Spanish expression but it's the only one that comes to mind at the moment.

' To leave empty-handed'.
' To be left empty-handed'.

And if we talk about a date in which we expect to have something else than talk. We say terminar con la cabeza caliente y ............. IN English?

perhaps (specifically on a date), it's like when "a hot-headed person
gets 'the cold shoulder'...".

I was thinking about that one too in fact.

I was just not entirely sure if it wasn't used more in general, for getting a brush off rather than to do with (hot) expectations being dampened or shreded in a romantic way etc. But yes, it makes sense in this context as well in fact.
