Al Festival Internacional vs a El Festival Internacional
Quiero ir al Festival Internacional de Música en Benicàssim.
Is there any situation where we can say: a El Festival Internacional…? How do we know if these kinds of terms (e.g. festivals, parks, etc.) actually contain the definite article as part of their names? Many thanks in advance. |

"Quiero ir al festival" is better, because the article is not a part of the name of the festival, but you separate the preposition when "el" belongs to the name; I guess you only know when they belong together through usage:
- Voy de vacaciones a El Cairo. - El viaje que hicimos a El Salvador fue muy bonito. - Esta película es anterior a El Señor de los Anillos. - La carga de este camión viene de El Paso, Texas. - Me acaban de regalar un ejemplar de El Vino del Estío, de Bradbury.
