Depende ciertamente de las capacidades personales y el interés que se tenga. Sí lo considero posible y ojalá hubiera desarrollado el talento (o la disposición) para convertirlo en realidad.

Estoy de acuerdo. Creo que también depende de la idioma y la cantidad de tiempo que se tenga.

Pasé dos años estudiando japonés, pero no tengo mucho que enseñar por ello. Qué pena.

'Not have much to show for it' es un modismo, así que debes buscar el equivalente en español. Encontré 'no rendirle mucho a alguien' y 'no lucirle mucho a alguien', pero no sé si cualquiera de los dos te sirve. Espera a que alguien te responda mejor.
