"I'm at the car shop waiting for them to do a smog check"
1. "I'm at the car shop waiting for them to do a smog check."
2. "I'm at the car shop waiting while they do a smog check." And I'm unclear whether "mientras" should be used with a subjunctive verb or a regular present-tense verb: 1. Are both correct? And what would be the idiomatic way of saying the same thing? Last edited by mwtzzz; September 22, 2016 at 03:08 PM. |

In Mexico, we'd say "mientras le hacen la verificación al coche", but this might be too local. Your proposals are fine with two little corrections:

Saludos! |

Thanks a bunch.
Please provide clarification on the use of subjunctive together with "mientras" in the following (and why subjunctive was not used above): "No se que vas hacer mientras yo este en la oficina." Last edited by mwtzzz; September 23, 2016 at 08:36 AM. |
