Este refrán quiere decir que una vez que no nos queda otra alternativa, seguimos metidos en el fango. Una vez tomada una decisión, no nos volvemos atrás.
Ej.:
No sigas copiando que te van a pillar.
De perdidos al río

De perdidos al río implica que ya estás perdido, y que te vas a perder más, que lo arriesgas todo. Por ejemplo en una apuesta, apuestas mucho dinero y te queda muy poco, y al final decides apostar todo, de perdidos al río, porque ya te da igual, aunque apuestes lo último no va a afectar mucho a tu situación.
