Miss?

Can anyone help me with the best way to say "miss" in the sentence:

He frequently missed the ball.?

Does it sound better to say

"No la agarraba con frecuencia" o cual seria el mejor verbo para "miss" que puedo usar sin contruir la frase negativamente.

Gracias.

I think you can say:
No daba con la pelota muy a menudo.

Rusty,

I think your sentence means "miss" in the sense of not hit the ball (right), like a batter.

Maybe Crotalito's option would work.

Thank you both,

Marsopa

If you're not talking about a batter hitting (or missing) the ball, are you using the figurative meaning?

Another option without a negative sentence:

Frecuentemente erraba el tiro.

For sports and games, you can also say "casi siempre/con frecuencia/a veces se le iba/se le escapaba la pelota".
