Out of order / not working = No funciona
Descompuesto = averiado = estropeado

I think "no funciona" is used in more places than Mexico City... I've seen it used in Argentina, but I'll let Ookami to answer that.

Gracias for the update, Angelica. I think you are right. I may have heard the word used in one of Madonna's productions made in Argentina. She was in a movie that was filmed there, and several videos, I believe.

@Crotalito: Your word is a good one. I would use it to make light of a bad situation. "Useless" is what it means here. Sometimes, though, inservible, would be true. I will add it to the dictionary. Gracias.
