so what is the currency of Puerto Rico? First I read it's the US dollar. then I read about the Puerto Rican peso. Then I hear it's the US dollar.

It's the U.S. dollar.

I don't know what slang words folks in Puerto Rico use for "dollar"; it's possible that they use "peso" just as we use "buck" in U.S. English.
