Could that be a credit union?

Not, it looks like to Fondo de Ahorro, if you have some kind of job currently, then you can have some kind of Caja de Ahorro in your job, I have one, or you can have a Fondo de ahorro in a bank.
it's not for me a credit union, or credit card, it would be different.

The term caja de ahorros is used mainly in Spain, and refers to a certain type of credit institution, similar to a bank, credit union or savings and loan association. A caja de ahorros is often a non-profit organization. In other places, such as Mexico, caja de ahorros has no special meaning like this.

Agree with David.
in Spain, "cajas de ahorros" are a type of bank. The "cajas de ahorros" are like a little federal-state bank/credit union/savings and loan association. They only work in their main state, and the goverment has influence. It's not so money-oriented like an usual bank, they have to spend some of the earnings in social projects. saludos

Hi everybody!
In Argentina, Caja de Ahorro is a type of account that you own in a bank, you can put and withdraw money, but you are not given a check book and it gives you low interest for your money deposit |
