This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for November 10, 2008
terreno - masculine noun (el) - property, land, lot, tract, field. Look up terreno in the dictionary Compramos un terreno en el bosque para ir a acampar. We bought a piece of land in the woods to go camping.

Is terreno a cognate? it looks like terrain.....

Indeed it is. In fact, the Spanish word for terrain is terreno.

Yep, you got it. But it doesn't correspond with terrain in all the meanings of the word. I should have added terrain to the list of translations.
