En este ejemplo, me gustaría saber qué valor tiene el se.

"Amplios sectores que no están dispuestos a permitírselo."

¿Se trata de un objecto indirecto, pronominal u otra cosa?

Por ejemplos, sospecho que se refiere a "ellos", o sea.

"Broad sectors that are not allowed to let them do it."

Cuando el que habla se permite algo a sí mismo, es reflexivo.
- Me permito recordarle que no somos amigos. -> (Literally) I allow myself to remind you that we are not friends, sir.
- Comprar joyas era un lujo que nunca se permitió la tía María. -> Aunt María never indulged in the luxury of buying jewelry.
- Algunas personas nunca se han permitido ser felices. -> Some people never allow themselves to be happy.

Cuando le permite algo a alguien, es objeto indirecto
- Permítame recordarle que no somos amigos. -> Let me remind you that we are not friends.
- Comprar joyas era un lujo que nunca nos permitió la tía María. -> Aunt María never allowed us the luxury of buying jewelry.
- A algunas personas no les permitimos ser felices. -> We don't let some people be happy.


Without any context, your example could mean two things:
Amplios sectores que no están dispuestos a permitírselo.
1) Broad sectors that won't allow themselves to do it.
2) Broad sectors that won't let him/her/them do it.
