la próxima semana = la semana que viene
If you google these terms, you'll find that the former is more popular. However, the counts don't necessarily represent common usage by region. |

Here, in speaking Spanish is like:
"la semana que viene" 90% "la semana próxima" / "la próxima semana" 10% Writing is more even.

I would say that there's a difference: "la semana que viene" is "next week" and "la próxima semana" is "the following week".

"El martes pasado fui al dentista." More uncommun but not rare: "El martes que pasó fui al dentista."

To me there's no difference between la semana que viene and la próxima semana. For the following week you can say "la siguiente semana" (o la semana siguiente).
El 23 de marzo fui al dentista y me dijo que fuera la semana siguiente. ¡Han pasado seis meses y aún no he ido! La semana que viene / la próxima semana tengo un examen. We don't say "el martes que pasó" . We say el martes pasado (o el pasado martes) or even "el último martes". |
