Does my sentence make sense if I use leaves?
-He ___ the works which were on the table. If which were is omitted, it makes sense; but I am not sure whether my original version is good. |

If you're describing a current action, then yes, it's OK to use 'leaves'.
If you are narrating a past event, use 'left' in the main clause. |
