Envidioso
I know that envidioso is envious in English, but it doesn' t seem to me the equivalent to the Spanish envidioso when we want to insult sb.
E.g eres un envidioso, si envidioso. If I want to call sb just envidioso can I say that in English. ? |

If a person were generally a jealous person, I suppose you would say "You are a jealous person" but 'envious' works as well. |

Don't be so begrudging. Maybe the verb to begrudge comes close the matching the negative side of envidia in Spanish.
Envy is somewhat mild in English. A person can be envious without being vindictive. To be begrudging (not wanting to give someone the smallest credit even when they do great things, to be disdainful or begrudging of poor people receiving some sort of benefit) is always negative. Jealousy is malignant envy. I think to begrudge doesn't translate well to Spanish.
