Auxiliar
This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for June 17, 2009
auxiliar (verb) — to help, assist, bring aid to. Look up auxiliar in the dictionary El coche no arranca; llama a tu papá para que nos auxilie. The car won't start; call your dad so he can come help us.

I agree with you both. "Ayudar" is more common than "auxiliar", though "auxiliar" is used above all when there is a sort of accident or someone is hurt or even lost, in the mountain or in the forest, for instance.
Auxilar is also an adjective: Haber es un verbo auxiliar. Or a noun: Cuando vas en avión ya no puedes llamar a la azafata, sino al auxiliar de vuelo. |

It more commonly use the word Ayudar into of the Spanish, but is acceptable use the word auxiliar and sound better, for example if you ask help to anyone you can say.
Por favor auxilieme con mi carro creo que no enciende. Please you help with my car because it won't start. I hope you can understand this sentence.
