Hi from Spain!
Hi! I am a native spanish and I want to improve my english with english or american natives. I have not a fluent english and we could learn together: you could learn spanish and I could improve my english. I am a sensible and serious person and I want to learn while I´m teaching...I speak spanish (the spanish spoken in Spain, the original one)
(I don´t know if this kind of messagges are allowed in this forum) Thank you very much in advance |

HI! I live in Madrid (I was born in Madrid). My mother language is spanish. I thought I spoke a pretty english since I first travelled abroad...I studied english a lot of years ago but when I travel abroad I realize I have lost a lot of vocabulary and I speak a very academic english, not the real english spoken on ¿in? the streets. I like to improve my english and help others to improve their spanish.
And now...Hola, dónde vives en Espana? Of couse you didn´t use Ñ letter but I understand...My name has an Ñ letter and I´ve had a lot of problems when I travel because sometimes, for example, I can´t book a flight or a hotel room with my name, so I have to use MARÏA, and then the name on the credit card is not the same as the one shown on my passport. What a mess! Thank you Last edited by nativespanish; March 21, 2013 at 11:39 AM. |

"mother language" is not commonly used in America. We use "native language". Capitalize Spanish and English to be correct. " I thought I spoke a pretty english since I first travelled abroad..." - I am not sure what you are saying here. Do you mean: "I thought I spoke English pretty well until I first traveled abroad" ? - That is what I think you meant, but I am not sure. "I studied english a lot of years ago" Depending on what you want to say: "I studied English many years ago" or "I studied English a lot many years ago" For the last sentence, do you mean "I like" or "I would like"? "Me gusta..." or "Me gustaría..."? Hopefully the corrections help you improve. Welcome to the forums! |

Hi awaken
Thank you for your answer. Yes, I wanted to say "I thought I spoke English pretty well until I first traveled abroad". As you can see I have many mistakes. Yes, for the last sentence I wanted to say: "I´d like". Thank you very much again! |

Hola Nativespanish;

However, in the context used by "Animo", we don't say "qué rico" as Nativespanish correctly points out...
