barrer (verb) — to sweep. Look up barrer in the dictionary

¿Se puede usar la palabra 'barrer' cómo esto? En inglés se puede usar 'sweep/barrer' como 'search for'

We swept the room for bugs, pero found none

Barrimos/buscamos el cuarto para los disposivitos de seguimientos/mifcrófonos, pero no encontrábamos nada

Yes, when it means to sweep the room/the house from the door to the inside, contrary to the usual way of doing it from the inner corners towards the door.

I heard "barrer para casa":

En cuanto puede, barre para casa (= aprovecha cualquier oportunidad para beneficiarse de alguna manera)

I think they both have the same meaning.
