Basándome en mi experiencia, en México dirían:

I should have gone there.
Hubiera ido allí.
Debí haber ido allí.
Tenía que haber ido allí.

¿Yo lo debiera estudiar en caso de que alguien lo use?

Aunque casi no se usan, debieras/deberías practicarlos, porque todavía quedan muchas personas que hablan así. Pero más importante aún: hay una muy grande cantidad de libros en que vas a leer esas expresiones.
