I know that in Spain this means rabioso. i have never heard the word used by Latin Americans. Is the term cabreado understood in the Ameicas?

No, we don't use that word here.
In Mexico we use "encabronado", and it's a bad word, so be careful if you use it.

En Chile usabo la palabra cabreado cuando estaba aburrido o algo me aburría, por ejemplo un discurso demasiado largo, una película sin tono, los sermones del cura, una novela y cosas así.
"Choreado", cuando estaba enojado.
Mi padre, cuando se enojaba con nosotros, gritaba: "¡Me sacaron los choros de la canasta!".
Todo en un ambiente puramente informal.
Los "choros" son pequeños moluscos marinos.

Mi única relación con el español chileno es a través de 31 Minutos, y creo que nunca han usado esas expresiones. Para algo aburrido dicen "fome".
Pero ahora ya tengo otras dos expresiones chilenas en mi haber.
