Hola ¿qué significa frases así?

Tenía por delante un vuelo de cuatro horas...

Sé que es algo parecido a eso..

Sí, significa que vas a estar volando durante cuatro horas.

En wordreference dice:

tienes toda la vida por delante, you have your whole life ahead of you

No sé "ahead of you" si sirve para un vuelo
