No, no es necesario, but if you want to imply that it was by accident that you left your cellphone at work, sí, es necesario.

Your second sentence implies that you left your phone deliberately.

I agree with Rusty. It's also a matter of regional usage.
"Me he dejado el móvil en la oficina" is more commonly said in Spain.

A Mexican would have said: "Se me olvidó/quedó el celular en la oficina" or "Dejé el celular en la oficina".
