Hanging is used more often for tthings that are physically hanging.
Such as clothes being hung out to dry (although in fact 'to be hung out to dry is also an expression, i.e. to lose badly.)'

'Pending' is used more often for 'abtract things' .

'There are a few pending matters to address' (generally not ' a few hanging matters').

In computerterms processes/jobs are pending, or calls can be pending too for instance.

Maybe another option to translate this might be
'There are (still) a few things left to do be corrected'.

something pending a certain response could be thought of as "something
hanging over one's head", especially some pressing matter.
