"Recordar" is not used reflexively in the sense of "remembering".

"Me acuerdo que...."
"Recuerdo que...."

"Me recuerda a un amigo mío" "He/she reminds me of a friend of mine."
"Acordarse" is not used in the sense of "reminding".

to remember = recordar, acordarse
to remind = recordar

There are some native speakers who use recordar reflexively, "me recuerdo...", but most don't.
