Try to make your own sentences with them. You can write a funny tale and you'll learn them fast . You can write them here and we'll tell you if they are wrong or not

On another glorious beautiful sunny August summer day, I would like to share with you this poem I wrote a while ago.
I'll try to give a translation in English as well but some parts are difficult to translate (especially the plays on words..), as always with poems. So bear with me.. Augustus Ploegen kerven gewonde grond Kammen de krullende kiemen, temmen de wilde wortels Golven van witte schuimbekkende hitte Kraaien de silhouetten, felblauwe hemel Rollen reuzachtig geel hooi Schat de oogst overvloedig, getogen Prikkelend mooi in goud allooi Schijnt fel en frivool in mijn ogen Goud, dat in de jouwe weerschijnt, weerkaatst onverhoopt mijn hoopvol gelaat Van eeuwig is niet gesproken Irissen, fluweelblauw, binnendringen Drijven op zachtzijden maat Wimpers verleidelijk geloken Krassende kraaien strijken neer Schril splijt hun schreeuw de droom in twee De scherven kaatsen stil weer Zon zindert zondig, eeuwig alleen - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - August Ploughs knifing through wounded ground, Combing the curling seeds, Taming the wild roots, Waves of withering white frothing heat, Crow(ing) the silouettes, in the starkblue sky Roles of gigantic golden hay, Harvest will be a treasure, abundant - adorned Tantalizingly pretty, in gold resplendance Shining frisky and frivolously into my eyes. Gold, resounding in yours, reflecting my hope without my knowing it, We never spoke of eternal, Irisses, velvet blue, penetrating - Floating on a softsilk rhythm Eyelashes lashed lazily.. Shrieking crows landing, Shrill, their shrieks shred the dream in two, Splinters reflecting silently, Sun simmers sinfully - eternally alone

Good job, even thought it loss some to sense in some words wrote in the same poem.
But even so you've made a great job with your translation. Congratulation.

I'm helping out some friends who are learning my language. (Some from England, a Brazilian, a Swedish, a couple of Germans and a few other nationalities. Believe it or not there are quite a few people learning it. ). Sometimes funny mixups come into life. They can be really quite 'divertido' (much like the errores tontos I am making in Spanish myself sin duda.. ). A few recent (and I thought quite funny) examples: 1. 'indoen' means to put in. 'aandoen' means to put on as in clothes or light. ' Hij wilde de melk aandoen aan de koelkast maar deed het licht niet in'. (He wanted to wear the milk to the fridge, but he didn't turn in the light'. 2. 'voorstellen' has several meanings. 'Zich voorstellen' = to present oneself, to introduce oneself/ introducirse. 'Zich voorstellen' = to imagine, imaginarse. ' Voorstellen' = to propose, to suggest/ proponer, sugerir. Ik stel het me voor = I imagine, I can imagine. Ik stel me voor = I am introducing myself Ik stel voor = I propose/ I suggest. My friend said to me ' Ja ik stel voor' .. so I was waiting for him to make a proposal.. while he was trying to tell me that he was imagining something.. Sometimes this leads to really funny situations and misunderstandings.. 3. ' Aantrekken' ' Aantrekken' - Ik trek een jurk aan - I am putting on a dress/ me pongo un vestido. 'Aantrekken' - een touwtje aantrekken - to pull a string. ' Aantrekken' - to attract, to feel attracted to ' Zich aantrekken' - to be upset. ' Zij trok zich de jurk aan' = My friend wanted to say, she put on the dress but ended up saying 'she was very upset with the dress' .. 4. 'opkomen' ' Opkomen' - De zon komt op - The sun is rising. ' Ergens opkomen' - to have an idea or to remember something ' Op komen (dagen) ' to show up 'Opkomen' = to climb on top of 'opkomen' = to be finished (food). 'Hij kwam er vroeg op' - He had an idea very soon/quickly or he remembered quickly (my friend wanted to say: the sun was up early.. ) 'Het kwam vroeg/snel op', would have meant, the food was eaten quickly by the way.. Well there are many more examples but I thought I'd just share a few.. As said the same very silly mistakes I make in Spanish all the time..
