Portuguese?

I managed to get my hands on a Pimsleur Portuguese course, and I've listened to about 2 of the lessons. I was surprised to find out that it's very similar to Spanish. I'm not going to get into it yet though, because I'm at a more difficult point in my Spanish career and I don't want to get it mixed up with Portuguese.

It definitely sounds like a fun language, and it's next on my list once I get experienced with Spanish. One thing that's very intimidating to me, though, is the pronunciation..I don't get how most things are pronounced, because they are spelled completely differently than I would pronounce them..

???

Re: Portuguese?

Portuguese and Italian are very easy to speak (basic level) for a native spanish speaker, because they have a lot of similar words and gramatical structures. Speaking slowly they can understand you. Later is more difficult (you have to master the language) but it's always more easy to learn portuguese when you master your spanish.
