Right now for me, it's almost a senseless sentence... what's the context?

I think that you wanted to mean
La idea de mi estar means To be with soul. I'm no very sure of the I'm saying above it, but I believe that for that way going the idea, perhaps if you place more above the context maybe we'll can to express more the your doubt.

Una luz centellea
Maybe that could be a word joke (juego de palabras) and he's playing with "ser" and "estar" ("ser" as being, noun, instead of a verb). And he's changed that "ser" for "estar" with the meaning of his staying in some place. But I'm not sure at all, not even a little |

Ugh... not a good idea trying to learn Spanish with the Gypsy Kings, and Hotel California will always be better with The Eagles.
Ok, seriously: I tried to listen to the song, and I couldn't make any more sense of it than of the written lyrics. Maybe one of their problems is they aren't native Spanish speakers themselves, but I think the general meaning should be "La idea de quedarme a pasar ahí la noche", which is not a full sentence either, but at least would give the idea that he actually stayed at Hotel California. @Irma: they actually pronounce "centela".

I think they mean lighting flash, and they pronounce the L because it may sound better in the song.

También habrá que tomar en cuenta si aparte de la pronunciación de Andalucía utilizan algún dialecto específico para las canciones.
