Murphy's law

La etimología que conozco para la ley de Murphy viene de un ingeniero EEUUense que observó que si un enchufe puede entrar en dos maneras distintas en una toma, alguien lo pondrá de la manera equivocada. Es por eso que ahora cuando diseñan tomas cómo, por ejemplo, la de USB, hacen que sólo se pueda poner de una manera.

There is some dispute in the UK concerning the real discovery of the so-called "Murphy's Law". It seems to be much older than either the USA or the engineering profession, and is more correctly attributed to an unlucky Yorkshireman called Silas Sod. This is why it is more commonly called "Sod's Law" here. This law explains why I always select the slowest check-out queue at a supermarket. Such effects are usually accompanied by groans of "sod it!"
