And ROBINDESBOIS i'm sure you'll have ample opportunity i'm happy to help you with any questions, but i'm not fluent, so i wouldn't expect expertise... |

I took German for a grand total of one semester, it wouldn't fit into my schedual after that.
When I get better at Spanish (I have a LOOONG way to go), I'd like to start learning German. I remember almost nothing about it at all...actually I could say the same for everything I took in highschool! Will it be easier to learn knowing Spanish? Is there a lot of similarities? Danke! |

1. Learning ANY second language develops language-learning skills and an awareness of the kinds of differences that can exist between two different languages. 2. German and Spanish share certain types of grammatical features that English does not have; learning how to use those grammatical features in Spanish helps make learning how to use the same types of features in German easier, even though the details of those features may be very different. For example, Spanish and German both have grammatical gender and gender agreement between nouns, articles and adjectives, and Spanish and German both have at least one familiar/informal style of second-person address and at least one formal/polite style of second person address (tú/vosotros vs. Ud/Uds, and du/ihr vs. Sie). |

Ach so!

The drop-down box is inadequate, it only gives ü, and we need ae, ee, and oe.
The plural of Umlaut is Umlaute, by the way, and the post before Angelica's is not easy to correct without re-writing it completely. |

@Satchrocks: Perhaps you'll be interested in checking the possibilities to install Spanish keyboard in your computer, so you'll be able to type Umlaute for each letter.

Stimmt? Ich weiss, dass ich 'Englisch auf Deutsch' ein bisschen zu viel schreibe (z.B.: ich verwende englischen Idiome, usw.) - jedoch kann mann den Beitrag verstehen, nicht wahr?
